Advice to Play Roulette Professionally

This article discusses the potential to earn a living as a professional casino player in today’s casinos, with a winning roulette system. You don’t need to cheat at roulette to profit. If terms such as “house edge” and “advantage” are unfamiliar to you, the chances are you’ve never been exposed to the real techniques that earn players fortunes. This article is written more for people who already have a reasonable understanding of professional methods.

To begin, what is the most profitable casino game? Specifically, in which game can you achieve the highest edge? I’m not talking about the house edge. I’m referring to a game where the player can turn the odds in their favour.

Most players will either say blackjack or poker, and would be wrong. Of course skill and varying conditions makes it almost impossible to give an exact edge a player may achieve. But I’m making a generalisation as to what the most profitable casino game is. The truth is roulette is by far the most beatable casino game, with edges over 80% being frequently achieved by professional players. When you consider the typical house edge is -2.7%, you can appreciate that an 80% edge is enormous. While 80% sounds like an outrageous exaggeration, its absolutely real.

Even some of the most experienced casino players would scoff at the idea that roulette is most profitable. After all, that little ball can bounce anywhere. And you never know how fast the dealer will spin the wheel and ball, right? The reality is the house edge in roulette is relatively small. Therefore for a player to overcome the house edge, and achieve a strong advantage, they only need to predict the winning number with slight accuracy.

Putting it into context, the payout for an individual number on the roulette table is 35 to 1. So if you bet on one number and win, you are paid 35 ships plus your original bet. But on a European wheel, the chances of winning are 1 in 37. Essentially to profit our roulette, you need to predict the winning number with accuracy better than 1 in 35. This is easily achievable and I’ll explain some of the principles involved.

But first, understand the most common mistake made by roulette players they don’t actually play roulette at all. Specifically they play software roulette where the winning number is determined by a computer, rather than the physics of a real roulette wheel. Essentially software roulette, otherwise known as RNG roulette, is no different to a slot machine. It just has cool looking computer animations. There is no way to accurately predict the outcome of software roulette, so you cannot increase the accuracy of your predictions, and ultimately cannot increase your edge. Software roulette maybe great when sitting at home in front of your computer, but don’t expect a long-term edge with any system.

Principles that make roulette predictable

Roulette is far from a random game. Below I’ll discuss how you can know this for yourself. The average casino player may know that roulette can be beaten if the wheel is very old with flaws. This is called “bias” where wheel defects lead to specific numbers spinning more often than they should. But even modern wheels straight from the factory floor can be just as predictable. Here are some principles that make roulette predictable:

Dominant diamonds

If you observed just the one spin, it is easy to think that the ball bounces unpredictably with no real pattern. But if you observed several key aspects, you will notice predictable behaviour even over just a few spins. One of the most obvious is dominant diamonds. Diamonds are the little metal deflectors situated around the rim of the wheel, and they are supposed to make spins less predictable. But the fact of the matter is they make roulette spins more predictable. If you took note of which diamonds were hit by the ball on each spin, you will find that on almost every wheel, certain diamonds will be hit by the ball more frequently than others. This effect is called diamond dominance.

On many wheels, you may find that one or two particular diamonds are hit on around 80% of spins. This is not specifically a bias, and it happens on any wheel whether it is new or old. One cause is wheel tilt. This is basically where one side of the wheel is very slightly higher than the other. After all it is almost impossible to have are perfectly level surface. Even a difference of 1mm between sides is enough to create a significant dominant diamond. The other primary cause of dominant diamonds is ball track deformations. It may seem like the surface where the ball rolls is perfectly smooth, but there are always manufacturing defects that aren’t visible to the naked eye. Of course as a wheel becomes more worn, dominant diamonds become more apparent. But rather than take my word for it, go to your local casino and you will see almost every wheel has significant dominant diamonds. If the spins were truly “random” (unpredictable), then there would be no diamonds at all, and where the ball falls from the ball track would have no “dominance” at all.

The critical effect of dominant diamond is is that you have a reasonable idea of where the ball will fall from the ball track. You don’t need any experiencing with roulette to see this.

Predictable ball bounce

You can know approximately where the ball will fall from the ball track. This means you can see where the ball hit the rotor for the first time, and where it bounces. Of course you don’t know exactly where it will bounce, but try observing ten or so spins. You will find that the ball usually bounces 15 also pockets before coming to rest. This isn’t the case with all wheels, but clearly most of them. This predictability of bounce is called “scatter”.

It won’t take long to see that the ball bounce (scatter) can be predicted, at least with reasonable accuracy. Keep in mind that achieving an edge in roulette only requires us to slightly increase the accuracy of our predictions.

Now combine the fact that you can guess approximately where the ball will fall from the ball track, and where the ball will bounce. This combination means you can predict approximately where the ball will come to rest. Of course not with perfect accuracy, but do you really need perfect accuracy to achieve an edge?

Predictable ball and wheel deceleration

The ball and wheel decelerate at the same rate regardless of how fast the dealer releases them. This means that once the dealer has released them, if you measured the speed of each, you could determine which numbers will be under the dominant diamonds when the ball falls. And since you know approximately how far the ball will bounce from there, you could easily and accurately predict the winning numbers. At least this is in theory. Can it be done in reality? Absolutely, and casinos already know about it. Devices that measure the speed of the ball and wheel to predict the winning number are called roulette computers. One such device was used to win over £1.3 million at the Ritz casino at London. Three players were arrested, but later released without charge because there was no law that prohibited the players from using technology to predict spin outcomes. The laws only prohibited devices that actually changed or influenced spin outcomes. Eventually British laws changed to prohibit such predictive devices, although after de-regulation of gambling, they changed once again and are now they are legal in the UK and much of the world. Generally speaking, every casino prohibits the use of such devices. But them being prohibited and illegal are two very different things. In approximately half of the jurisdictions throughout the world, use of roulette computer devices is not forbidden by law. But certainly you will be banned if you are caught using them.

Since the breaking of the story involving the Ritz casino players, roulette computers have been a hotly debated topic throughout the Internet. Many roulette computer devices have been developed and marketed, although the majority of these devices are extremely simplistic and incapable of beating modern roulette wheels. Credible devices which have been publicly demonstrated are available at www.roulette-computers.com where the suppliers also reveal free information on how to develop your own roulette computers.

Perhaps the highest profile roulette computer technology is the hybrid roulette computer, available from the same individuals. This is a device that uses image recognition technology and hidden cameras to automatically predict where the ball will land. It is believed to be the only technology of its kind. The developers of the technology manage what is believed to be the largest team of professional roulette teams. Although they do market some of their technology, their best technology is kept private.

Other predictive methods

Although roulette computer devices may be the most effective way to beat roulette, there are other methods that use the same physics. Specifically visual ballistics basically does what a roulette computer does, although use your eyesight instead of sophisticated timing equipment. This is not as difficult as it first sounds, although the eyesight methods are only capable of beating fewer wheels. Keep in mind that almost every wheel has dominant diamonds. Usually a wheel has two specific diamonds that are hit most often by the ball. Even if there are three specific diamonds, this is still far from random, and thus the behavior can be used to the player’s advantage.

Now consider that the ball is released at some unknown speed. Just from observing the ball speed, you can easily determine at what point in time the ball has approximately four revolutions to go before it falls. If you find is difficult, try to guess when the ball has one revolution remaining. With practice, you will find you can quite easily be accurate to within one revolution, and usually this is sufficient to achieve a significant edge in roulette.

You may already understand where this is leading. But with a simple visual ballistics method of estimating the number of remaining revolutions for the ball, you can estimate when there are approximately four revolutions to go before the ball hits one of the dominant diamonds. This means you have a reasonable idea of where and when the ball will fall, because the time taken for the final four ball revolutions is much the same even on different spins. And you will have already determined that the ball bounces in at least a reasonably predictable way. So all that’s left is to determine which numbers will be under the dominant diamonds when the ball falls. It may sound impossible, but this is the approach that has won fortunes. But if you take the time to practice, you will find it is easily achievable with many related methods. Some are even free at roulettephysics.com.

The real problem with beating roulette

Instead of roulette being the most unbeatable game, it is in fact the most predictable casino game but you need to work with the right type of roulette bets, and not rely on roulette betting progression. The roulette payouts are not important when you have an edge. You can very easily beat almost any wheel design in a controlled environment at home. Roulette wheels are subject to real world physics, and in fact it is almost impossible to manufacture a wheel with completely unpredictable spins.

The real problem with beating roulette is winning discreetly. Casinos know that roulette is being beaten, and they also have a reasonable understanding of how it is being done. Casinos also know they do not even need to understand the very latest techniques or technology being used to beat them. All casino staff need to do is monitor for consistent winning players. For example, if casino staff noticed a player winning an inordinate number of times betting just before the ball lands, they don’t need to search the player or ban them. All the casino staff need to do is call no more bets earlier and earlier until the player either loses or leaves. By allowing the late bets while the ball is still spinning, the casino is able to maximise their revenue through lucky last bets of normal players who have no real advantage. So it is not as profitable for casinos to call no more bets before the ball is released. Instead, the smarter casinos only call no more bets very early when they detect a player is regularly winning with late bets.

So the problem for any professional casino player, whether they use roulette computers or not, is to remain undetected. Of course there are many other things the casino can do to protect themselves from professional players, although the majority of approaches have a side effect of reducing their income.

Professional players, such as roulette computer users, are generally an accepted hazard by casino staff. Casino staff know about them, but they are easily detected by attentive casino staff who can then take appropriate action. As it is today, it’s a bit of a cat and mouse game with professional teams trying to remain undetected, while casino staff vigilantly monitor their tables for professional players. So can you earn a reasonable living playing as a professional roulette player, without being detected? Absolutely, and many players do because a roulette computer player only needs to win a few times before making a substantial profit. And these few spins appear to be nothing more than a few late bets with luck.

But keep in mind that casinos make the rules and their technology to detect professional players is getting better. But the good news for players is there’s still ample opportunity for professional players to earn a fortune if they can successfully avoid detection.
